Preserve the Beauty of Your Handloom Products

Important Care Tips

Our handloom products are made from natural, premium fabrics that require gentle care. Proper care will keep your garments beautiful for years to come.

Washing

Hand Washing (Recommended)

  • Use lukewarm water (not hot)
  • Add mild detergent or specialized handloom soap
  • Gently soak and swish the fabric for 5-10 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water until suds are gone
  • Never twist or wring the fabric
  • Wash separately from other clothes at first

Machine Washing

  • Use gentle/delicate cycle only
  • Use cold water with mild detergent
  • Place inside a mesh laundry bag
  • Avoid fabric softeners
  • Wash with similar colors only
  • Do not use bleach

Drying

  • Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing
  • Air dry in shade or away from direct sunlight
  • Do not dry in direct harsh sunlight to preserve colors
  • Dry flat on a clean surface or hang loosely
  • Never use a clothes dryer

Ironing

  • Iron on low to medium heat
  • Always place a thin cloth between iron and fabric
  • Iron while fabric is slightly damp for best results
  • Never iron directly on embellishments or prints
  • Iron from the back of the fabric when possible

Storage

  • Store in a clean, dry place away from moisture
  • Use natural fabric storage bags or cotton bags
  • Avoid plastic bags that can trap moisture
  • Use cedarwood or neem leaves to prevent moths
  • Avoid direct sunlight in storage areas
  • Fold neatly to prevent permanent creases

Stain Removal

Fresh Stains

  • Blot immediately with a clean cloth
  • Do not rub or scratch the fabric
  • Rinse with cold water from the back
  • Use mild soap if needed

Stubborn Stains

  • Soak in cold water for 30 minutes
  • Use a gentle stain remover for delicates
  • Test on a hidden area first
  • Rinse thoroughly after treatment
  • For wine or organic stains, try white vinegar solution

What to Avoid

  • ❌ Hot water and harsh chemicals
  • ❌ Bleach or strong detergents
  • ❌ Fabric softeners
  • ❌ Direct sunlight for extended periods
  • ❌ Machine dryer / tumble drying
  • ❌ Wringing or squeezing harshly
  • ❌ Ironing at high temperatures
  • ❌ Dry cleaning unless absolutely necessary

Natural Fabric Care

Cotton Handlooms: Natural fabrics may shrink 2-5% after first wash. Pre-wash in cold water if you want to prevent further shrinkage. Colors are natural dyes and may fade slightly with time - this adds to the charm of handloom products.

First Wash: Always wash separately from other colors in the first wash. Natural dyes may release excess color initially.
